Not every deposition or every court proceeding requires a certified transcript for your use in today’s world. We are able to provide daily, expedited, dirty draft and rough draft copies when requested. A daily certified final transcript turnaround is the same day. An expedited certified transcript is two to four days and a regular delivery certified transcript is ten business days. But there is not always the need for that, and we at Appalachian Court Reporting in addition to the regular type of transcript production also provide dirty drafts and rough drafts. What is the difference between a dirty draft and a rough draft? A dirty draft is a draft transcript of the proceedings immediately after its conclusion with little to no editing done, it is simply a “dirty” transcript of the proceedings handed to you on a jump drive or a live feed that was already sent to your iPad or your laptop. Rough draft transcripts are provided after the reporter has had time to go through and make sure it is in draft form. That will usually be delivered via email that evening or the next morning. Dirty drafts and rough drafts are not certified, but one of the many advantages to a dirty draft and a rough draft is that though not certified it is of high quality professional workmanship and is a cost saver in the event the cost of a daily or expedited certified transcript may be out of reach. Dirty and rough draft transcripts allow you an early start to reviewing testimony while waiting on the certified transcript to be delivered on a normal non-rush basis.
